VBF-12 Online History
VBF-12 was started in November 2004, shortly after the release of Pacific Fighters. I had some experience running squads before, and haven't been simming since the days of Air Warrior. I decided to start a squad again while flying with some family and close friends. I scoured many resources to pick a squadron that should be historically represented. I, like a lot of flyers, started in the Corsair on the release of PF. I was turned on to the Hellcat by my father (VBF-12 Jabo), who would utilize its strongpoints. After a few weeks flying his wing, along with my close friend (VBF-12 Spectre), I decided to use the callsign Fighter Bomber 12. The squad was created when we recruited our first member, VBF-12 Lucky. The 4 of us would get together and fly often.

We quickly recruited pilots that only flew Hellcats, and that was the only necessity for joining. I spent many hours teaching the fine art of flying this bird with pilots who were interested in flying it. The squad quickly expanded in size, and we added many fine pilots.

As time grew, we added many fine pilots. The decision to upgrade VBF-12 to Air Group 12 was made. We consisted of VF-12, VBF-12, VB-12, and VT-12. The Air Group turned out to be very successful. We flew a handful of campaigns as CVG-12, and truly learned how devastating a coordinated strike could be.

In 2006, the decision to close Air Group 12's tour was made. Eventhough I considered CVG-12 to be successfull, I no longer had the time to keep a full 4 squadrons airborne. MCVG-2 was an offshoot of many of our pilots, and the squad was condensed back to the original VBF-12. For the first time in a year, VBF-12 has opened it's doors to new members. In January 2007, the 8 pilot roster was expanded, taking 4 pilots who previously served with us, and 3 more new additions.
In 2010, VBF-12 will hit its 6 year anniversary. We have embraced the the Mods that have come to the game, and watched the game grow into a whole new level. We are still active in Warbirds of Prey servers, and alway enjoy flying as a team.
VBF-12 and CVG-12 has had 72 pilots fly off the deck of the Randolph in combat.
